The Life Center Organ Donation Network invited Cathy and I to take part in a recording session to provide voice-overs for a new presentation they were producing. We gladly lent our voices for the project which also includes the words of other donor families, as well as, expressons of gratitude from several recipients. Shortly thereafter, Claudia was asked to be the keynote speaker at the 2006 Donor Family Recognition Ceremony. She, too, felt honored to help and was well received by those in attendance. In the midst of these two events, we received yet another very special letter. It was a note of appreciation from one of the other of Justin's recipients of "the gift of life" and her mother. Before receiving Justin's gift, this young lady's "life" consisted of lying in a nursing home in a diabetic coma. She is now in her mid-twenties and leading a more normal life. Throughout our family's journey through the grieving process, one of the groups that has remained consistent in their support has been The LifeCenter Organ Donation Network. From the very beginning they have been, and continue to be, available to us in a variety of ways. They took us under their wings and made us a part of an organization which believes the greatest gift of all...is to give. Most importantly, LifeCenter has honored Justin in multiple ways for his decision to give the gift of life. "In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever good we give out completes the the circle and comes back to us." (Flora Edwards) Below, I have included a link to a portion of Life Center's website which facilitates one's ability to designate themselves as an organ donor. It is co-sponsored by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles(BMV). Please feel free to visit. Life...Pass It On.
